Use Bulk Update Product & Service to update multiple existing Products, Parts, and Services using a CSV file.
Bulk Update does not create new Products.
For new items, use Bulk Create Product & Service.
Step 1 — Export Existing Products #
Start by exporting the current Product & Service list from MESOS.
The export contains the current values for each item and is designed for Bulk Update.
This is the recommended file to use because it includes the correct SKU and existing product information.
Step 2 — Keep the SKU #
SKU is required for Bulk Update.
MESOS uses the SKU to identify which existing item should be updated.
Example:
PROD-001
Do not replace the SKU with a new SKU.
If a SKU does not exist in the current workspace, MESOS will not create it through Bulk Update.
Use Bulk Create instead.
Each SKU should appear only once in the update CSV.
Step 3 — Change the Required Fields #
Update only the information you want to change.
Common fields include:
- Name
- Sale Price
- Purchase Price
- Quantity
- Type
- Sales Tax Code
- Category
- Unit Code
- Classification Code
- Description
- Image Link
- Income Account
- Expense Account
- Warehouse
- Inventory Tracking
- Low Stock
- Tags
- Hide From AI
Categories, Warehouses, and Account Codes entered in the CSV must already exist in MESOS.
Quantity Updates #
Inventory Tracking Off #
For a Product or Parts item with Inventory Tracking = No, Quantity may be updated through Bulk Update.
MESOS treats the change as an operational stock quantity movement.
Example:
Current Quantity:
10
Bulk Update Quantity:
15
Operational stock increases by:
5
This does not create an accounting Inventory Opening Balance.
Inventory Tracking On #
For an item with Inventory Tracking = Yes, Quantity cannot be changed through Bulk Update.
Do not use Bulk Update to add or reduce tracked stock.
Use the appropriate inventory transaction instead, such as:
- Purchase
- Inventory Opening
- Stock Adjustment
- Sales and returns
- Other supported inventory movements
Enabling Inventory Tracking #
Bulk Update cannot be used to turn Inventory Tracking from No to Yes for an existing Product or Parts item.
Open the individual item and use Product Edit instead.
This allows MESOS to review:
- Current physical quantity
- Warehouse stock
- Inventory Asset Account
- Opening inventory value
- Opening date
- Opening reference
before Inventory Tracking is activated.
Changing Inventory-Related Fields #
For an Inventory Tracked item, MESOS protects fields that affect inventory valuation.
Do not use Bulk Update to directly change tracked stock setup such as:
- Quantity
- Inventory Tracking status
- Warehouse
- Product/Service type
when the change conflicts with existing inventory.
Use the appropriate Product Edit or inventory workflow instead.
Service Items #
Services do not use Inventory Tracking or Warehouse stock.
Do not:
- Enable Inventory Tracking for a Service
- Assign Warehouse stock to a Service
Sales Tax Code #
To use the company default Sales Tax Code, leave Sales_Tax_Code blank.
Enter a Sales Tax Code only when the item requires a specific override.
WhatsApp AI Agent #
The following fields are only relevant if your company uses the WhatsApp AI Agent module:
- Tags
- Hide_From_AI
- Additional AI Sales fields shown in the export, where available
If the WhatsApp AI Agent is not enabled, AI-specific fields can be ignored.
Step 4 — Upload the Update File #
After editing:
- Save the file as CSV.
- Open Product & Service → Bulk Update.
- Upload the CSV.
- Check the column mapping.
- Review the changes.
- Complete the update.
MESOS will reject invalid rows rather than silently creating a new Product.
Important #
Before submitting a Bulk Update:
- Keep the original SKU.
- Do not duplicate the same SKU in the CSV.
- Do not use Bulk Update to create new Products.
- Do not directly change Quantity for Inventory Tracked items.
- Do not use Bulk Update to start Inventory Tracking.
- Make sure referenced Categories, Warehouses, and Accounts already exist.
For new items, use Bulk Create Product & Service.
For stock and Inventory Tracking rules, see Inventory – Get Started.
